Humboldt
County Board of Education
The Humboldt County Board of Education
consists of seven elected members. Each board member represents a trustee area that corresponds
to a geographical region of the county. Trustees are elected only by voters residing
within their respective trustee areas. After the decennial federal census, trustee
areas may be reapportioned to assure that populations within the areas remain
nearly equal.
Board members are elected in November of even-numbered years.
A term is 4 years. Should a vacancy occur on the board in mid term,
the vacancy may be filled in one of two ways. The remaining board
members may provisionally appoint someone to fill the seat until
the next regularly scheduled governing board election, or the County
Superintendent Schools may call a special election to fill the
seat.
Any registered voter living within the area that he/she seeks
to represent is eligible to be a member of the Humboldt County
Board of Education except the County Superintendent of Schools,
any member of his staff or any employee of a school district.
