KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Arcata Elementary School is now accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2013-2014 school year. To enter school in the fall, a child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2013. Children who turn five years old between September 2 and December 2, 2013 may enroll in the new Transitional Kindergarten program. Click here to download an informational flyer on Transitional Kindergarten.

Parents should register their children at the school serving their residence area. Proof of residence is required. Parents are strongly encouraged to register their children early, so that class placement can be determined. Placement into classes will be based on the date of registration.

Arcata Elementary School will host an information meeting on the evening of Thursday, March 28, 2013, 6:15 pm in Room 1 for parents with children who will be attending our kindergarten program for the 2013-14 school year. At this meeting, parents will meet the kindergarten teachers: Liz Jacobson, Julie Mapes, and Sue Wartburg, as well as Margaret Flenner, the school principal. You will hear about our outstanding kindergarten and school programs, enrichment programs, and other services at Arcata Elementary School.

On May 15, 2013, 9:00 to 10:00 am, Pre-Kindergarten children are invited to come to Kindergarten Visitation Day at Arcata Elementary. The children will enjoy spending time in a kindergarten classroom and participating in story time, art projects, dramatic play, science exploration, cooking, and play activities. While the children are in Kindergarten classrooms, Ms. Flenner and other staff members will meet with parents to talk about the AES school community and our Extended Education Program.
