Curriculum & Instructional
Division
Welcome and thank you for visiting our site.
The Curriculum and Instructional Support Services Division
has resources for teachers, administrators and students.
We
are here to help teachers do the most important work in education,
teaching our children the skills to become involved and productive
citizens in our communities. Take a look at what we have
to offer teachers in the Louis D. Bucher Teacher Resource
Center. Library and media resources, supplies for the classroom,
nutrition and early literacy services, technology information
and resources for the classroom are all available. The world
is now becoming the classroom, with advances in technology
bringing our world ever more closely together. Web sites
for students doing research and internet resources for teachers
and administrators can be accessed through this site.
Cutting edge professional development and workshops
and trainings are offered to local teachers. A new project
to support arts in the schools and an exciting new partnership
with the Calif. State Parks system is using live video conferencing
technology to bring science based curriculum from our state
parks into the classroom. Services for after school programs,
safe health practices and alcohol, drug and gang-related
prevention programs are offered. The important work of supporting
schools to improve instruction and student performance is
available.
Everything we do needs to support instruction
and student learning. Over 5000 students participate each
year in the Humboldt County Science Fair, Spelling Bee, Gary
T. Roberts Northcoast Industrial Technology Fair and the
other educational enrichment activities offered annually
through our new Rising Stars Foundation. We support Humboldt
County’s children, our rising stars.
It is important
that we all work together to provide the best education possible
for our children. That’s why we work closely with our
post-secondary education partners, the business community,
local foundations and other public and non-profit providers.
Working together, we are making a difference.
Thank you again
for visiting our site. We welcome your comments, suggestions
and ideas on how we may continue to improve what we do to
help teachers, administrators and students in Humboldt County.
Best
wishes. |
