MISSION STATEMENT

Goals of Orick Elementary School

The whole Orick School Community creates an atmosphere where learners are afforded opportunities to be involved and accountable for their academic, social and emotional growth within a structure of necessary skills acquisition and high expectations.

Learners view the school as the place in their community that provide the resources, human and technological, to prepare them for the challenges they face in their futures.

Orick School is a place where students, staff, community and business interact and interchange as they offer experinces and services to one another.

A Message from the Principal

The 2003-2004 school year was exciting and productive. Our talented and enthusiastic teaching and support staff challenged the students to reach higher academic levels. Recognition for these accomplishments was rewarded with Academic Excellence, Honor and Endeavor Awards. As the year progressed, the achievement bar was raised and more students claimed the awards.

Orick School recognizes every student as a unique and special person. Individual education programs, including specific goals for each student, were established through student study teams, as well as staff and parent meetings. Our belief is that "It takes the whole village to raise the child." Along with the dedicated staff and school board, the support of parents and community help all of our students to be a success.

Our Orick students, parents and all community members have benefited greatly with our Healthy Start partners. Medical and dental services are here for the community. Monthly community dinners, food banks, clothing closets, nutrition and parenting classes, after school recreation, and open library are just a few of the benefits our school and community offer. With these Healthy Start offerings and the Orick School educational programs, our children are empowered to reach their personal best and academic success.
