This is Grants house in Gelena Missouri.


U.S. Grant was stationed at Fort Humboldt in 1854.The fort was there to protect the Indians.He hated it here.Because it was cold and foggy and he missed his family. When he left Eureka, he quit the Army and moved back to his hometown to be with his family. during the Civil War,Lincoln asked Grant to come back to the army as a General. He quit after the war and became President.

In Eureka, Grant School and Grant Street are named after U.S. Grant

School and Grant Street in Eureka are named after U.S. Grant.
