School Profile
Agnes J. Johnson School is located in the the western portion of the Southern Humboldt Unified School District. The school community is in a mountainous, rural, area along the Eel River. The school is north of the district office in Garberville. The school serves the students of the surrounding communities inclucing Weott, Myers Flatt, and Miranda.
Since the school is right next to the redwood groves it recieves an incredibly high amount of rain. To much rain has caused flooding in the past which has caused serious damage to property. If a storm hits power lines could be downed, trees could fall, and power outages can have school cancelled.
Forms of jobs and employment come from local logging services, or state services like the park services, the state fire station which is located in Weott or state and county road services. Some commute out of town to their forms of employment.
Agnes J. Johnson Elementary School includes three classrooms in use. It also has a multi-purpose room where you can find the cafeteria, a stage, and the gymnasium. There is a large play area for the students along with a large baseball field. There is also a chicken coop, and a garden.
