North Coast Schools' Insurance Group (NCSIG)
Services

NCSIG provides a number of services to our members in addition to insurance. Among these are a consortium to provide federally mandated drug and alcohol testing of school bus drivers, asbestos regulation compliance, lead regulation compliance, and compliance with OSHA training requirements.
DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Consortium

The consortium provides for pooled, random testing of approximately 200 school bus drivers in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. The random drawings and all testing is administered on our behalf by: Compliance Associates.

To add or drop a driver to your district's list, contact Taylin Titus by email or by telephone at 707-445-7067.

Before hiring a SPAB, the following steps must be taken:

  1. Check with your district transportation department on the availability/feasibility of district transportation.
  2. Secure permission from you district to pursue the use of a SPAB.
  3. The Company must be on the pre-approved list annually provided by the NCSIG.
  4. Follow the directions of the School Pupil Activity Buses (SPAB) Manual created by NCSIG.
